The Charlotte Alumnae Chapter raised over $1,200 for philanthropy & convention expenses during the 2006-2007 year with three fundraising events.  The three events were the Southpark Mall Evening of Giving in the fall of 2006, a lollipop sale at local BB&T branches in the spring of 2007 and the Change Heart Campaign throughout the year.   Here is a breakdown of money raised by each event:

 

– Southpark Mall Evening of Giving - $810.0

– Change of Heart Campaign – $132.50

– Easter Lollipop Sale - $1431.04

Change of Heart Campaign

 

We will continue the Change of Heart campaign during the 2008-2009 fundraising year.  This simple idea made big Change in our fundraising efforts the past two years. At each event the goal is to collect spare change from those in attendance. We were able to collect nearly $130.00 at only a few events we collected at last year and hope to do even better at collecting this year! The idea is that members will empty their spare change from their own purse, whether it’s one penny or a hundred pennies at all Alpha Phi Alumni events, this change is collected throughout the year. If you are at an event, take charge and remember to collect the change. We encourage all members to get their families involved and start their own change collections at home to contribute as well. We will have larger containers available at the big events, such as Founder’s Day and our annual Christmas Party where you can bring any larger change collections. You can submit any change collected at big events or make arrangements to get it to Michelle Figueras, treasurer. Our collection will be donated to the Heart of a Woman program with Carolinas Medical Center and will truly bring a Change of Heart! Let’s see if we can double our effort this year!

 

5th Annual SouthPark Evening of Giving

Last year we raised $800 for charity. Let's make it bigger this year! We are selling tickets again at $10 a piece, for a special evening at Southpark Mall.  The mall will be open Sunday, November 23rd, 2008 after hours for ticket holders ONLY from 6:30 – 9:00 pm! There are store discounts, prize giveaways, food, and entertainment.  More information will be provided soon on where to purchase your tickets for yourself and selling to friends on Alpha Phi’s behalf.

 

Texas Hold’em Party

Texas Hold’em Fundraiser at Midtown Sundries on Harris Blvd., in the university area. Proceeds to benefit Alpha Phi Foundation and CMC Heart of a Woman. This year we were able to raise $705 for charity.

Once lollipop & convention expenses are subtracted, we had $1,238.47 to donate to charity.  Using the Alpha Phi Foundation Community Contributions Program, $1,052.70 will be donated to the Heart of a Woman organization at Carolinas Medical Center and $185.77 to the Alpha Phi Foundation.  Based on our 2006 donation to the Heart of a Woman program at CMC, the Charlotte Alumnae Chapter was recognized as a bronze level sponsor for the 2^nd year at the Cupid’s Cup 5K which is a 5K run benefiting the Center for Cardiovascular Health at Carolinas Medical Center which manages the Heart of Woman program.  We plan to continue our relationship with this wonderful organization in 2008-2009.
