Founders’ Day Luncheon was held at Red Rocks Café on October 10th.  We had a wonderful time and the food as excellent as always, especially that yummy chocolate cake.  We did take some time to acknowledge our members celebrating anniversaries this year.  This includes:  Laura Kovacs – Rhode Island 10 years, Lynn Young – Lander & Trish Martin - Northern Illinois 25 years as well as Mary Kearns -Michigan State 65 years.  Congratulations!

Michelle Figueras hosted a jewelry party to benefit the Alpha Phi Foundation and CMC Heart of a Woman.  There was a great turnout & we raised $134.70 before heading out on the town.

It was a little chilly outside but we stayed warm by the fire at Janeen Moore’s Fall Camp Out, good food, good company & good times was enjoyed by all!

With the Holiday’s coming up things will get a little quiet but keep an eye out for the evite to the Holiday party on December 12th at Mary Evans’ home.

It’s time for Autobell car wash passes again!  They make great stocking stuffers and teacher gifts.  Each pass is good for a full service wash and is $13.95.  Tickets can be purchased at the holiday party or by contacting Karen Miller by email notsosubtle@aol.com or phone 704-224-8827.  This is a great fundraiser for our convention/regional conference fund because we earn $6.97 per ticket sold!

As a note our January event was scheduled to be held at Frankie’s Italian Grill in Dilworth.  Due to Frankie’s closing we had to change the location of the event and it will be held at Mama Ricotta’s instead. The evite will be sent out in December.

We’ve also had some changes to our Ivy Circle calendar.  Look at the current Calendar on-line for updates.

The Charlotte Panhellenic has a couple of events coming up you may want to keep an eye out for.  Greek 101, an information session for high school students will take place in May and there will be a Wine Tasting fundraiser scheduled for April 24, 2010.

If you’re not receiving evites and want to remain on the list please let us know.  Our invite list has gotten a little out of hand so we’ve cut it back to dues paying members and those members that have recently reached out to us.  If you would like to continue receiving invitations just send an email to charlottealphaphi@yahoo.com or our VP Membership Billie Jo Keller at charnc2002@aol.com.  We would love to meet you or see you again!

We have 45 dues paying members, including 10 new members this year!  A big thank you to all our returning members and welcome to our new members:  Christine Brent, Sarah Louise Helms, Sara Koloda, Elizabeth Kohli, Elizabeth Kooney, Alexis Mannarino, Jamie McCoy, Megan McSherry, Nancy Parrish, and Darcy Wagner!  We will be sending out the roster electronically shortly after Thanksgiving to all our dues paying members.

The Alpha Phi chapter at Duke recently held their first Red Dress Gala.  The Charlotte Alumnae Chapter made a gift basket donation for their silent auction.  The event was a great success and the chapter raised $12,000 for the Alpha Phi Foundation.

Don’t forget to pay your International dues.  This way you’ll continue to receive the Quarterly throughout the year.  And if you haven’t paid your local dues there is still plenty of time to join the group!  You can check out our website http://charlottealphaphi.tripod.com/ and access our membership form or pay your dues.

If you have anything you want to share with chapter please let us know & we’ll include it in our next news & notes.  That includes any announcements you may want to include for the Sunshine Chair.  Please send any of your announcements to dmessner@carolina.rr.com.

Don’t forget to look for us on facebook, Charlotte Alpha Phi Alumni Group.  If you haven’t received our newsletter or have any questions please contact us at charlottealphaphi@yahoo.com.  Hope to see you soon!
